After training Peter was promoted to Corporal...

After training in the US and a billet in England, on D-Day plus 4, Peter climbed the rope ladders onto a landing craft for fighting in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, under the command of General Bradley. Peter was in Germany when the war in Europe ended. While proud to have served his country, Peter never talked much about his service other than to mention that he once refused a request to switch jobs with a buddy who was assigned to a forward position. The Battle of the Bulge broke out and the forward position was overrun and everyone there was killed or captured....

Some buddies in Paris..

Peter was in California, on the way to the Pacific Theater when the war ended. Due to his length of service he was immediately demobilized and sent home.
