The Willamsburg bridge dominates the view from our living room. It is more than 100 years old, and has recently undergone extensive renovations. In addition to eight lanes of traffic, it carries subway traffic for 4 subway lines (on two tracks) as well.
The area under the Bridge on the Manhattan side is East River Park. It has also been undergoing renovations, with tennis courts, running track several ball fields where both school and adult leagues play. The NYC bikeway which will when complete enable you to bike all around the Manhattan water front alsow goes through the park. Right now you can bike up to the UN and down around the Battery and back up to around 44th Street without having to venture out ont the streets. More on East River Park.
